Antique Rosewood Ship's Barometer

Very beautiful and in good and original condition ship's barometer. This ship's barometer has two ivory scale plates at the top with divisions in English inches to read the height of the mercury column. This made it easy to see the daily difference in height and thus the air pressure. This way one could also get an idea of what the weather would be like at sea. The ship's barometer hangs in a gimbal bracket so that the barometer always hung straight, even in rough weather.
