antique English wind-out dining table

Oak English sliding table from around 1880, made in London by Filmer & Son, 31, 32 Bernertstreet, London West. This is a high-quality table; the beams that support the table tops are supported on both sides by beams, preventing the table from sagging, unlike many Dutch or French tables. Since the tops were almost black, the table has been cleaned and is ready to be re-stained. The dimensions are 126 cm wide by 150 cm in its smallest position and can be extended to a maximum of 285 cm long. The turning mechanism was made by Joseph Fitter from Birmingham. In the photo, you see four chairs on one side, but with slightly narrower chairs, 5 people can sit on one side, accommodating a total of 12 to 14 maximum people.
