antique oak counter, shop display cabinet

Very fine antique oak English counter. This antique counter from around 1880 is in very good and original condition and was once used in a clothing or fabric store, see the brass inlaid measuring strip. This counter has three deep drawers at the back, and the doors providing access to the display area are sliding. The bottom has a beautiful oak inlaid parquet. I see many of these cabinets on my travels, but these two antique counters really stand out in terms of quality, functionality, and beauty. This antique counter was made around 1880 by the firm Cullens, shopfitters Ltd, Leicester and London.
