Antique oak officer's travel desk

This antique travel desk was made around 1850 of oak wood with an ebony inlay. During the reign of George III (1760-1820), luxurious campaign furniture was made almost exclusively for the wealthiest upper-class officers. Not much later, it was not only merchant navy and army officers who bought such qualitatively beautiful furniture, but also sailors and families who emigrated to start a new life elsewhere. The dimensions are width 58, height 54.5 and depth 25 cm.
