Historical overview of the Globe Wernicke Company. The stackable bookcases are characterised by their modular construction and glass lift-doors designed to keep books free of dust. The bookcases consist of two to seven stackable elements, usually in oak but occasionally in mahogany. The cases were patented in 1892 and became a worldwide success.
